As First Lady of Arkansas, Hillary Rodham Clinton chaired the Arkansas Educational Standards Committee from 1982 to 1992, where she successfully sought to improve testing standards of new teachers. Clinton voted for the USA Patriot Act in October 2001, as did all but one senator. She called for personal tax cuts for college tuition and long-term care.
